The spend-spend attitude of most school districts has not changed with their proposed school budgets for the coming year with substantial increases.
When school administrative districts hire a new superintendent, the expensive ideas come along with the package. When, in part, this position should provide the best affordable education for our schoolchildren. The superintendent’s yearly pay raise should be based on the cost effective savings to the school district. Most school districts manage to place money into carry-over accounts at the expense of taxpayers on a fixed income. Some of these people are torn between paying for their medication, food or taxes on their home.
What is the problem with our Maine schools when police are called to control schoolchildren? Has the school administration personnel lost complete control? Some school districts now want a police person on duty in their schools.
The taxpayers so far have not been blessed with the laptop computer expense. The state education department will find a way to pass that expense on to the taxpayers.
Most town governments have kept their yearly budget basically flat-funded for years, while the school budget has increased yearly. I believe it’s time for taxpayers to let school board members know money doesn’t grow on trees, and grant money is not free.
