LEWISTON – Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops and Venturing Crews of Abnaki District are opening their doors and inviting area youth to join Scouting this spring.

Fliers are going into many local schools and several packs, troops and crews are setting up meetings and activities where potential Scouts and their parents can sign up.

“What better time exists to join Scouting than when the weather is getting warmer and Scouts can be outdoors?” asked Matt Mower, Abnaki District executive. “Outdoor activities, including camping, are an important part of the Scouting program, and a good sized portion of these activities are done during the spring and summer.”

Boys going into first through fifth grade this fall can join Cub Scouting. Boys 11 and older or going into sixth grade and under 18 can join Boy Scouting. Young men and women age 14 to 20 and who have completed the eighth grade can join Venturing.
