FARMINGTON – The Colonial Daughters Chapter of the Daughters of American Revolution will meet at noon on Tuesday, May 25, at Theo Walker’s home in West Farmington. A light lunch will be served followed by guest speaker Lorriane Norton, who will speak about the Louisiana Purchase.

Lodge session

LIVERMORE – Charity Rebekah Lodge of Livermore Falls will meet Wednesday, May 26, at the Ralph Wright Memorial Building, 284 Federal Road. The 1:30 p.m. meeting will be preceded by refreshments beginning at 12:30 p.m. served by hostesses June Remington and Betty Gillespie. A memorial observance will be held with Chaplain Betty Harriman in charge. Noble Grand Frances Berry will have charge of the program. A district meeting was held Saturday, May 22, when Charity was hostess to the lodges in District 10, Ponemah of Canton and Merrill of Farmington. District Deputy President Frances Berry and her marshal Betty Harriman were in charge of the meeting. The visiting assembly officer was Patricia Grass, warden, from Kennebunk and guests from several state lodges were present. The informative afternoon meeting culminated with a catered supper.

Levine show

FARMINGTON – Stephen Levine will play at the G.I. Coffee House from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, May 28, at Old South Congregational Church on Main Street. He plays an assortment of eclectic music The public is welcome to enjoy the music, coffee and company at no charge. Moral support for U.S. troops and their families is the central theme on the second and fourth Friday of each month.

• Job Club, from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursdays, June 3, 17 and 24. This workshop provides a format to support and assist the job seeker with strategies, leads, job preparation and possibilities.

• Interviewing skills, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 4.

• Test of adult basic education from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, June 14.

• General aptitude test battery from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, June 18.

• Career decision making from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 15.

• MEOC-101, essentials of college planning, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, June 10. This includes instruction on filling out financial aid forms to assist in getting the maximum amount in grants and/or loans. Participants must pre-register for this session by calling 1-800-281-3703.

Founders Day

SALEM – The Salem Founders Day Committee has started planning for the 4th annual Salem Farmers Founders Day on July 10. The theme this year is Honoring Those Who Serve and Those Who Wait. Plans at this point include a parade, games in the fields, pie-eating contest, fry pan throw, ATV egg run, craft show, auction, baked bean supper, a music show and more. The committee is looking for vendors, floats for the parade and items for the auction. They do not accept box lots or used clothing. ATV egg run sheets are available. For more information or pick up of auction items, call 678-2026. Anyone with ideas of what they would like to see for this or next year’s Founders Day is welcome to let the committee know.
