WEST PARIS – In keeping with tradition the town will hold its annual Memorial Day ceremonies on Monday, May 31.

Ceremonies begin with a parade stepping off from the corner of Park and Main streets and proceeding to the Memorial Bridge on High Street. Prayers will be offered in memory of Americans lost in war at sea and a wreath will cast upon the Little Androscoggin River.

After that part of the ceremony the parade will march to the Wayside Cemetery on Main Street where prayers will be offered in memory of those who died to guarantee freedom. Speeches will be given, flags will be placed on veteran’s graves, taps will be played and a 21-gun salute will be presented.

The parade will return to the park in center of the village and the program will conclude with a ceremony at the town’s War Memorial.
