FARMINGTON – Selectmen do not expect opposition to a proposed reconfiguration of the intersection of Fairbanks Road with Belcher and Box Shop Hill roads, according to Selectman Dennis Pike.
The issue will be brought to a public hearing Tuesday at the selectman’s meeting that begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Farmington town office.
Pike said the change is purely for safety concerns.
The intersection of the three roads will become safer when the entrance to Fairbanks Road from Belcher or Box Shop Hill becomes nearly perpendicular.
There will be a stop sign at the bottom of Box Shop Hill Road and another where the two roads intersect.
The little “jog” at the World War I arch will be eliminated.
Other items on the agenda include a public hearing on new and renewal applications for innkeeper and lunch wagon permits, a public hearing about the town’s animal control ordinance and a discussion of funding for the proposed Lincoln Street sewer line replacement.
