The Sun Journal, which published the article (May 18) on Roland “Butch” Pelletier’s acting debut in Keith Merrill’s “12 Dogs of Christmas” movie, penned an excellent article except for one thing: There was another person from Maine who also landed a speaking, acting role in this movie: Bob Chapman of Poland, formerly of Mechanic Falls.

His role was the newspaper editor who played opposite Jordan Claire, who played the girl Emma, the star of the movie. Bob and I answered a plea from the movie people wanting more extras over the age of 50. We went the last day of casting, and Bob read for the part of the newspaper editor. He received a call a few days later saying he had been chosen for the role. I would be an extra.

Bob also got a movie contract, a screen actor’s guild contract offer and his script.

The money was not as important to him as having his first grandson grow up and see his grandfather and his nana (an extra) in a wonderful children’s Christmas movie for years to come.

We both had a wonderful adventure, and it was fun to be in this movie. The movie people were great. We also want the public to know the book “12 Dogs of Christmas” is out for children to read. If people can’t find the book, ask any bookstore to order it.

Janis Chapman, Poland
