DIXFIELD – Nine SAD 21 officials at Wednesday night’s 2004-05 budget informational meeting came prepared.

They were armed with notebooks of information, slides and an overhead projector to explain the $7.16 million proposed budget.

What they didn’t have was an audience.

No one from the public from SAD 21’s towns of Canton, Carthage and Dixfield came to the Student Community Center at Dirigo High School for the 6:30 p.m. meeting.

Fifteen minutes later, Superintendent Thomas Ward thanked the four school board members, two principals, administrative secretary and special education director for coming, and sent them home.

Voters are to address the budget at the annual budget meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 3, in the same large room at the high school.
