E TOWNSHIP – Thomas T. “Tom” Trask, 57, of North Jay, died late Friday evening, May 28, on a fishing trip in Rangeley.

He was born March 8, 1947, in Wilton, a son of Walter and Irene Ranger Trask. He was a 1965 graduate of Jay High School and was a United States Army Veteran, having served from 1966-68 and earned the National Defense Service Medal.

He was a boiler operator at International Paper Company.

He also was an orchardist, having purchased Trasks’ Orchards in 1968 with his brother Terry. He was known as the “Apple Man,” selling apples here and up in the northern Maine St. John River Valley.

He was an AYS coach for many years and enjoyed encouraging and watching his own children play sports. As an outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and spending time in his orchards with his family and his dog, Tatonka. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and was anticipating the August birth of his third grandchild, Jayden Achorn.

He is survived by one son, Duane Trask and his wife April of North Jay; three daughters, Sara Behr and her husband Christian Behr of Winthrop, Katie Trask and her companion Nate Achorn of Bangor, and Amanda Trask and her companion Scott Bailey of North Jay; his mother, Irene Trask of North Jay; three brothers, Terry Trask and his wife Iris of North Jay, Gene Trask of North Jay, and Jeffrey Trask and his companion Bonnie Brown of Wilton; one sister; Rosie Grimanis and her husband Michael of Farmington; one half brother, Sherman Adams and his wife Shirley of Farmington; two grandsons, Deaken Trask and Bryson Bailey; and former wife, June Holman Hoar of Farmington.
