CPR course

FARMINGTON – Registrations are being accepted for a community cardiopulmonary resuscitation course from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 12, at Franklin Memorial Hospital. The course will follow American Heart Association CPR standards and guidelines. It will include life support information on as well as instruction on auto electronic defibrillators. The course must be attended in its entirety to receive certification. The fee is $40 and includes a textbook. Yard sale

JAY – Friends Together Peer Support and Recovery Center, a non-profit organization for adults with mental illness, will hold its annual fund-raising yard sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 5 at 104 Main St., next to Memco. Proceeds from the sale are used for member activities and day trips throughout the summer. Anyone who would like to donate items – no clothes – may drop them off from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Friends Together Center at 70 Main St. Monday through Thursday or call Irene at 897-3468 or June at 897-9984.

Dance recital

FARMINGTON – The Dance Workshop will present it’s annual children’s dance performances at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 5, and at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 6, at Mount Blue High School auditorium. Ballet students, age 3 years to adult, will perform a ballet, Violin Adagio. Jazz and tap students will perform a variety show of swing Broadway musical and rock. Tickets will be available at the door. The performance is sponsored by the Mount Blue Music Boosters.

Conservation meeting

FARMINGTON – Franklin County Soil and Water Conservation District will hold its monthly board meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, June 7, at the USDA Service Center at 107 Park St. The meeting is open to the public. Cheering tryouts

FARMINGTON – Tryouts for Mount Blue Middle School cheerleaders will be from 3:30 to 5 p.m. June 7 and 9 at the school, rain or shine. The tryout is for grades six and seven. Women and blacksmithing

WILTON – Women are invited to learn the mysteries of blacksmithing and have a chance to try it out. They may attend an evening of instruction with Ray Tilton, retired blacksmith, starting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, in the basement of the Wilton Historical Society. The Western Maine Blacksmiths Association will sponsor a night of forging for women interested in learning how to beat red hot iron into household items like decorative hooks, curtain hangers, drapery tie backs, plant hangers, paring knives and other useful things. Bible school

JAY – Bean’s Corner Baptist Church is accepting registrations for its annual Vacation Bible School scheduled for 9:30 to 11:45 a.m. June 14 to 18 at the church. The theme is “SonGames 2004.” Programs include singing, watching skits, Bible stories, creating crafts, and playing games with a sporting emphasis.
