FARMINGTON – Franklin Memorial Hospital will launch an all-volunteer healing music program in June that will give patients access to live music on the nursing units, and in select public spaces.
Tracy Harty, director of nursing, recently invited musicians Annalisa Olhmstead and Kay Huntington to play on one of the nursing units to determine how live music would be received.
The duet had been playing cello and violin for an employee appreciation function at the hospital when they were asked to play.
Hospital personnel are committed to providing live music regularly throughout the hospital.
Soloists and duets are being sought to play soft, soothing, instrumental music on the floors.
Music will be offered from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sundays and from 7 to 8 p.m. Interested musicians are also invited to be a part of the noontime concerts in the hospital’s Bass Room. The concerts offer a broader spectrum of music and can accommodate larger groups, as well as instrumental and vocal ensembles.
Interested musicians are invited to contact Jill Gray at 779-2555 for more information or to volunteer.
