LEWISTON – Joseph B. Turner, 52, of Norway and Racine, Wis., died Monday at Central Maine Medical Center surrounded by his family.
He was born in Farmington, Oct. 7, 1951, the son of Joseph Ralph and Ina Porter Turner. He attended schools in New Sharon and Farmington and graduated from Farmington High School in 1969 and attended technical college. He was employed as an inventor and troubleshooter for S.C. Johnson Wax Company in Racine, traveling around the world, including Germany and Canada, working on plastic molding extrusion machines.
He loved fishing, hunting, NASCAR, seafood (especially lobster), the Red Sox and Maine. He was a member and trustee of the Methodist church in Racine. In the late ’60s and early ’70s he served as a Drill Sergeant in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was proud of and loved his four sons and when they were younger, coached them in baseball.
Survivors include: his four sons, William Ralph Turner and Steven Michael Turner, both of Pasadena, Md., Christopher Brent Turner of Merrimack, N.H. and Matthew Joseph Turner of Norway; three brothers, Arthur R. Turner and Harold A. Turner, both of Norway, Junior E. Turner of Farmington; and a sister, Alta M. Hatcher of Dallas, Tex.; and many nieces and nephews.
