PORTLAND – Charles Merle “Mutt” McInnis, 92, died Monday, May 31, at his residence at Fallbrook Woods, 418 Ray St., Portland. He had formerly resided on the Beliveau Road in Rumford and had lived in the Greater Rumford area most of his life.

He was born in Mexico March 23, 1912, the son of Maurice and Ann Ramsey McInnis, and graduated in 1930 from Stephens High School in Rumford.

He was the proprietor of the Oxford Beef Company Store in Rumford for many years, and he owned a farm and cattle business in Bryant Pond.

He was a Communicant of St. Athanasius-St. John Church, and was a former member of the Rumford Maine Lodge B.P.O.E.

Survivors include a son, Richard A. McInnis and his wife Mary Ellen of Rumford; two daughters, Mary Jane Newell and her husband Stanley of Oxford, and Patricia Malm of Tennessee; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a daughter Sally Lizotte.
