SOUTH PARIS – Jeanette Sewell Brown, 87, of Paris died Sunday, May 30, at her home.

She was born in Paris Feb. 27, 1917, the daughter of Hiram Ulysses and Marjorie Soule Heald. She was raised and spent most of her life on Paris Hill. She was the oldest Paris Hill native. She graduated from Paris High School in 1935, and Boston University in 1939.

She was a physical therapist, working with polio patients at Chicago Children’s Hospital. She had also been employed at Togus.

She was a member of the Paris Hill Baptist Church and the Women’s Auxiliary of Stephens Memorial Hospital. She loved gardening and birds. She faithfully served her country in the United States Army Medical Corps.

She married Lawrence Brown on April 22, 1947. He passed away in 1995.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty Brown of Crestone, Colo.; three sons, Bion L. of South Paris, Roger M. of South Pond, S.C., and Peter H. of Paris; three grandchildren, Hannah, Sarah and Max.

She was predeceased by a brother, Bernard Brown.
