LEWISTON – The deadline for entry into the Andy Valley Softball Umpires’ Association Memorial Softball Tournament is June 7. Mailed entries must arrive by June 8. The annual tourney is slated for June 11-13 on Lewiston and Auburn fields.

There will be two divisions of play. One is an open tourney to be operated under Class B rules. The second division will be governed by Class D rules. Trophies will be awarded to the top two teams in each division.

Entry fee is $175 for the double-elimination event. Official A.S.A. rosters must be presented. Checks or money orders should be made payable to Andy Valley Umpires.

Umpires to meet

LEWISTON – The regular monthly meeting of the Andy Valley Softball Umpires’ Association will be held tonight at 8 o’clock at the Multi-Purpose Center. Final plans for the upcoming memorial tourney are on the agenda.

A-K Girls League

LEEDS – Kristen Capen went 4-4 and Kristy Buzzell clouted a grand-slam homer to power Leeds to a 23-12 victory over the Turner Patriots in the 12-Under Division of the A-K Girls Softball League. Jessica Nickey contributed 2 hits, 1 a double. Capen, Alivia Bradley and Kelsey Linnell shared the pitching duties. Kassara Varney led the Patriots with a 3-run homer and triple. Other top sticks were Carrie Rand and Kala Richardson.

Auburn Players

AUBURN – John Cusson went 3-3 with 2 RBI to lead Melanson/WAC to a 15-3 win over Fortin Monday. Ryan Laroche went 2-2 and Mike St. Hilaire earned the mound win. Dennis Wing cracked 2 hits for Fortin, including a double.
