Officers have been conducting special patrol duties over the past week, with an emphasis on safety belt enforcement.

Officer Mark Dow said traffic violations have been observed and warnings issued.

“Many vehicle stops have been initiated, and a number of summonses have been issued for violations,” he said.

The crackdown continues.

Incidents

• Police are seeking information about two young men playing basketball in the vicinity of Dixfield Elementary School about 8:30 p.m. May 28, after a report of criminal mischief. A window that had been previously broken, but not yet fixed, was damaged more, requiring immediate attention, police said.

“The damage appeared to be consistent with a basketball striking it,” said investigating officer Thomas Gould.

• Police have a suspect in a near-collision between a car and bicycle on Mill Street after a complaint of dangerous vehicle operation 8:15 p.m. May 28. Gould said the vehicle narrowly missed striking a young man who was riding a bike in the area. An investigation continues.

• An investigation continues into a report of marijuana possession that netted police a small seizure of pot at 7:30 p.m May 28.

• An investigation has been launched into a theft at a Fairbanks residence reported at 2 p.m. May 28.

• An investigation continues into a crash that occurred May 27 on Church Street in East Dixfield. Neither driver involved filed a required report about the incident, police said.

• An investigation was initiated following a report at 2 p.m. May 25 of credit card fraud.

• An investigation continues into a criminal mischief incident at 7:30 p.m. May 25 at the town garage in which a town truck’s side window was smashed.

• Officer Jeffrey Howe, investigating a report of illegal drug activity at 6 p.m. May 23, seized a quantity of drugs and paraphernalia. Police did not release any other information, citing an ongoing investigation.

Arrests

• Melissa Ramos, 26, of Farmington, on a Kennebec County warrant alleging unpaid fines, on May 28 on Route 2 in East Dixfield. She was also summoned for a seat belt violation and for failing to notify the secretary of state of and address change on a license and registration.

• Brendon Rackliff, 24, of Dixfield, on a charge of domestic assault, at 1 a.m. May 23. He was taken to Oxford County jail in Paris, where he was released on bail later that morning.

Summonses

• Glen Lane, 19, of Dixfield, on charges of operation after suspension and unauthorized use of property in connection with the alleged theft of a vehicle from a High Street residence last September, at 1 a.m. May 21 near Blaisdell’s Store in Peru.
