FARMINGTON – Gloria Rydholm Austin, 84, of Farmington died Friday, May 28, in Farmington.

She was born, March 23, 1920 in Auburn, a daughter of the late Clifford and Vertie E. Edwards Rydholm. Through her teen-age years she grew up on the family farm in Minot and moved to Auburn to attend Edward Little High School and the Maine School of Commerce.

Mrs. Austin worked for several years in the Social Services Department at Central Maine Medical Center, and retired from the SAD 58 school office.

On Oct. 22, 1953, she married Maynard S. Austin of Phillips. Together they resided in Rangeley and at their summer home on Harmony Pond in Madrid, before purchasing a home on Whitney Street in Farmington where they lived for many years.

She was a member of the Phillips United Church of Christ and the Reed Mills Ladies Circle.

Mrs. Austin is survived by her son, Alan Austin, of Phillips; a sister; and a nephew.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of more than 38 years, who died March 23, 1991.
