BETHEL – Terry Collins pitched a complete-game three-hit shutout to lead Telstar to a 4-0 victory over Boothbay in a Western Maine Class C quarterfinals matchup Thursday.

In the second inning, August Reese scored from second on a throwing error and Jake Largess hit a sac-fly and scored Kurt White for the Rebels (11-4).

Mike Norton, Dan Boyd and catcher Casey Latter had the only hits for Boothbay (7-10).

Brewer 2, Mt. Blue 0

BREWER – Andy Otis scored the eventual game-winner in the first inning as Brewer edged Mt. Blue 2-0 in a Eastern Maine Class A quarterfinals matchup Thursday.

The Witches (15-2) added an insurance run in the sixth when Matt Grimes, who had a two hits in the contest, plated Kevin McAvoy.

Brian and Steve Wells combined for four of Mt. Blue’s (12-6) five hits.

Brian Wells suffered his first pitching loss of the season for the Cougars.

Bangor 8, Leavitt 0

BANGOR – Brian Hackett went the distance giving up two hits and striking out five to lead Bangor to an 8-0 victory over Leavitt in the Eastern Maine Class A preliminary matchup.

Nate Hall scored two runs and had two RBIs, and also drove in the only earned run of the game for the Rams (14-3).

Brandon Smith and Brian Metayer had the only hits for the Hornets (7-10).

Lisbon 3, Monmouth 2

MONMOUTH – Greg Roy singled in Jon Tefft in the top of the fifth for the game-winning run as Lisbon defeated Monmouth 3-2 in a Western Maine Class C matchup Thursday. Tefft went the distance and had six strikeouts.

Brian Gardner and Mark Wade had the Mustangs’ two RBI.

Jay 9, Madison 2

JAY – Jackub Turner had three hits and scored four runs as Jay defeated Madison 9-2 Thursday in a Western Maine Class C matchup Thursday. A.J. Nelson also had three hits and three RBI for the Tigers (14-4). Jay’s Zach Charles pitched six strong innings with six strikeouts.

Tony Fortin hit a solo home run for Madison.
