BIDDEFORD – The University of New England has added women’s swimming as a varsity sport. The Nor’easters 13th varsity sport will begin this fall. Kate Mulholland has been named the team’s first head coach.

Mulholland, a 2000 graduate of Virginia Tech, recently served as head coach of the Snappers Swim Club in Barrington, Mass.

Chicago standout signs Women’s Basketball team

ORONO – High School standout Kris Younan of Leyden High School in Franklin Park, near Chicago, Ill., has signed a national letter of intent to play women’s basketball for the University of Maine.

Younan, a 5’8 guard, set Leyden High School records with 1,127 points and 384 assists. She also recorded the school’s first triple double.
