FARMINGTON – State Sen. Chandler Woodcock, R-Farmington, announced recently that he is seeking re-election to a third two-year term in the Senate. Woodcock has represented District 17 for the past four years.

As a result of legislative reapportionment, District 17 will be renumbered to District 18 and will be composed of 35 towns and unorganized territories in Franklin, Kennebec and Somerset counties, from Eustis to Readfield.

“I am so honored to represent my constituents in the Maine Senate,” Woodcock said in a prepared statement.

Woodcock serves as the assistant minority leader in the Senate. He is also a member of the Legislative Council, the 10-member governing board of the Legislature, and is the ranking Senate Republican on the Joint Standing Committee on Judiciary.

Before this term, Woodcock served on the Joint Standing Committee on Inland Fisheries and Wildlife and the Legal and Veterans Affairs Committee.

He received the National Audubon Society’s Champions Award in 2002 and has a 94 percent career rating from the Maine Economic Research Institute.

Woodcock is a public school teacher. He has taught at Livermore Falls, Mount Blue and Skowhegan high schools. He received a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from the University of Maine at Farmington.

Woodcock led the Mount Blue girls’ basketball team to consecutive state championships in 1999 and 2000. A veteran, he served with the Army in Vietnam. Woodcock lives in Farmington with his wife, Charlotte. They have three daughters and one son.
