June 6, 1944, was D-Day. The allied forces landed at Normandy, France, and began the liberation of Europe from the grip of Germany Nazi fascism.

It is ironic that June 6, 2004, we are living in a United States that has become fascist. Fascism is a form of government that is marked by a government that: works at the behest of corporations, has a vast military infrastructure, that is belligerently nationalistic and that is run by a dictator.

Since World War II, we have had Republican presidents that “declare war” and send our troops in harm’s way to protect American interests just as a dictator or king might. The American interests that are being protected belong to huge corporations. Republicans support a huge military infrastructure, and we threaten the rest of the world with our military might. Republican presidents flaunt the law and bypass the courts in carrying out public policy. We have become belligerently nationalistic.

The American people are fascists, and they elect fascists to represent them. Electing Democrats will not end fascism. Democrats, however, have a more moderate view of the United States’ role in the world and Democrats modify their corporate support with social programs that benefit the American people. If you want to supply Social Security to those who need it and other vital social programs you will vote for the Democrats. If you want to end American military belligerence in the world you will vote for a Democrat.

Bush? No more years.
