CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – White House Drug Czar John Walters will visit New Hampshire Monday to tour an alcohol and drug abuse treatment center.
Walters will also discuss the newly enacted drug treatment voucher program, called Access to Recovery.
The initiative was funded by Congress for $100 million this year. States can apply for the money, and the program is predicted to allow thousands more Americans access to treatment.
Addicts in need of treatment receive a voucher from their health provider to give them flexibility in choosing a treatment program, including those that are faith-based.
Walters will also meet with brass at the Southeastern New Hampshire Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services Drug Treatment Center in Dover.
