BUCKFIELD – Voters at the June 23 annual town meeting will decide whether to borrow up to $107,500 to landscape the Municipal Center.

There is $52,000 in a reserve account for the project, which includes creating a common in front of the center on Route 117 and parking spaces beside it. Voters will be asked to authorize selectmen to carry through with the landscaping.

A tax rate increase of .65 per $1,000 of property valuation is reflected in the 2004-05 municipal and education spending. A proposed net budget of $1,360,110.74 is $54,984.37 more than last year. The SAD 39 budget is up $2,706.61 over last year.

Residents will be asked to raise $17,185 for the Municipal Center and $20,325 to pave the new highway garage lot. The total cost is $34,000, but there is $13,675 in the highway garage project budget to be used toward it.

The budget for roads stands at $207,855.

Voters will be asked to approve discontinuing the John Ellingwood Road without reservation of a public easement. The road is now a town way approximately 33 feet wide beginning at the intersection of Route 117, also known as Depot Street, and running for approximately 850 feet in a southwesterly direction.

The annual meeting begins 7 p.m. at Buckfield Junior-Senior High School auditorium. There are 60 articles in the warrant.
