WATERFORD – An open house was held recently to increase awareness of the availability of senior housing in town.
Waterford Acres Apartments on Route 35 offers subsidized housing for people age 62 or older, or people who are handicapped or disabled, said Joel Oshansky, spokesman for Rural Development.
The federal housing agency helped finance the project in 1994 with a loan of $833,000 to the Waterford Acres Limited Partnership, she said.
Rural Development subsidizes the mortgage, and qualified tenants pay rent based on 30 percent of the adjusted gross income.
“We wanted to make people more aware that this kind of housing is available in Waterford,” she said.
Oshansky said those wishing more information may call Kristen Dilworth, management agent, at 781-2791.
