WILTON – In a runaway race for selectman, Russell Black beat incumbent George Mosher for one of two contested seats Tuesday.

Residents gave Black 586 votes, Michael Lilley 104 and Mosher 65.

Black served on the Planning Board for more than 15 years and is a self-employed farmer, logger and building contractor.

He said before the election that taxes and business development in Wilton would be his focus.

Incumbent Selectman Rodney Hall received 60 percent of the vote to win his race against Richard Tibbetts. Hall got 431 votes; Tibbetts 285.

Hall has served on the Board of Selectmen for the past 11 years. He ran on tax issues saying that reducing Maine property owners’ taxes would leave towns scrambling for revenue.

In a more closely contested race, Robert Pullo retained his position on the SAD 9 board, winning 421-316.
