FARMINGTON – Goodwin Well & Water Inc., doing business in Central Maine for more than 55 years, is breaking ground Thursday, June 10 on its first branch office on Route 2 & 27 in Farmington Falls.

“We have served customers in the greater Farmington area for many years, going back to the late 1940s when our grandfather would oftentimes board with customers during the week while he drilled their well,” President Ike Goodwin said. “To ensure better customer service and greater business efficiency, we decided that it was time to open a branch closer to our Franklin County customers.”

The new facility will include an office area, employee facilities, a shop area to house and maintain equipment as well as fuel facilities and storage areas for inventory and equipment. The ground breaking is set for 11:30 a.m.

The new branch is expected to be completed by early fall, Goodwin said, and will have a drilling crew as well as water pump system installation and service personnel and also water treatment system installation and service personnel.

Peter Ellingwood, 19-year employee with Goodwin Well & Water and a resident of Wilton, is the company’s customer representative for the Franklin County area and will be based out of the new facility.

The four-generation family-owned business has been located in the Turner area since 1948 and has grown to become one of Maine’s largest water system contractors.

It offers a full range of services to customers including drilling and hydrofracing wells, providing complete pump system installation and service and a water treatment division that specializes in the installation and service of custom-designed systems to deal with a broad range of water quality issues including arsenic, color, taste and odor.
