On June 5, my family went to graduation to watch the last of our family get her diploma from Edward Little High School. Most of my family, including myself, have graduated from that school. I have listened to many speeches given by the top five honor parts over the years and have been very proud of the students and what they have had to say. It has always been refreshing to go to EL’s graduation, knowing that we would be listening to the students themselves instead of a speaker who would not only be boring, but talking on a subject that no one really understands.

This year, however, the speeches were the most disgusting speeches I have ever sat through. The only reason I stayed is because I waited 13 years to see my niece get her diploma. The subject matter, with the exception of the fourth honor part, was not appropriate for the moment. I do not think that discussing urination, bowel movements and passing gas needed to be done in front of parents, grandparents and friends of the graduating class.

As an EL graduate, I am appalled that this could have been approved by the teachers and faculty. Shame on them for making us sit through that.
