FARMINGTON – The Mount Blue Area Garden Club will begin its “summer club” meetings this month starting Tuesday, June 15. The first summer meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Beverly Olivers’ Ladybug Garden on the Holley Road. Those attending are asked to bring a box supper and a lawn chair. Beverages and desserts will be provided. There is a plant swap at the end of each summer meeting, so attendees are asked to bring one if they want to participate.

Members are reminded that all membership dues need to be turned in by June 15, in order to facilitate names being included in the new yearbook. For more information phone Marion Hutchinson at 645-2067.

Society meeting

FARMINGTON – The Farmington Historical Society will meet Monday, June 14, at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church. There will be a potluck supper at 6 p.m. followed by a business meeting and program at 7 p.m.

The speaker will be professor Paul Frederic of the University of Maine at Farmington who wrote the book, “Canning Gold,” which is the history of canning corn in this area. Guests and new members are welcome.

Folk festival

EAST DIXFIELD – Two local bands will showcase at the Countryfolk Music Theatre on Route 2 from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 13. The bands, Silver & Gold, from the Jay- Livermore Falls area, and Silvery Seasons, another well-known Franklin County country music band, will perform. The theatre features a free jam session each week throughout the summer. The public is welcome to bring chairs, food, beverage, and enjoy the music. Retired teachers convening

FARMINGTON – The Franklin County Unit of the Maine Education Association of Retired Teachers will meet at 11 a.m. Monday, June 21, at Trinity United Methodist Church on Farmington Falls Road. Reservations are requested by Monday, June 14, by calling Verne Byers at 778-3495, Marjorie Collins at 864-2223 or Carolyn Parr at 778-4282.

Language classes

FARMINGTON – Registration for classes for American Sign Language will begin Monday, June 14. Classes will be held at in suite 5, second floor, of the Western Mountain Interpreting Agency, 186 Main St. There will be both a day and an evening classes. Each class will run for 10 weeks and the cost will be $10 per session. For information and registration phone Sharon Locke at 628-2800.

The support group, Friends and Family of Deaf Children, will continue to meet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month. Anyone who knows a child who is deaf or is a parent of a deaf child is invited to attend. The agency is sponsoring a guest speaker on the topic of “Your Legal Rights.”

Starting June 14, the summer office hours for Western Mountains Interpreting will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays and from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. For more information phone 778-5789.

Conservation meeting

FARMINGTON – The Franklin County Soil & Water Conservation District will hold its monthly board meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, at the USDA Service Center. The meeting is open to the public.
