PERU – The Board of Selectmen voted Monday to advertise for an animal control officer to replace Marsha McKenna.

Citing personal reasons, McKenna informed the board she would relinquish the position on July 1 but maintain some level of service until the town finds another officer.

Also on the agenda for Monday was a continuing discussion of whether the board should draft a junkyard ordinance. Selectmen are reviewing similar ordinances used in other towns to determine if something similar would be appropriate for Peru. If they decide one is needed, the ordinance could be passed at the town meeting next March.
