DEER ISLE – Haystack Mountain School of Crafts hosted the 21st Student Craft Institute on Memorial weekend. Seventy-two high school juniors from throughout Maine were nominated by their art teachers to participate in the three-day intensive crafts program for distinguished art students.
The institute drew students from points across the state, ranging from Kittery’s Berwick Academy in the south to Southern Aroostook High School in the north. The institute introduced students to the world of working artists and to the idea that art can be a lifelong pursuit.

Also, Ashley Main, Gray, Catherine McAuley High School, Portland; Turner Huston, Lisbon Falls, Lisbon High School; Janelle Martel, Mechanic Falls, Poland Regional High School; Danielle MacDonald, New Gloucester, Gray-New Gloucester High School.
