PEMAQUID – The folk duo Castlebay will perform starting at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 18, at the Harrington Meeting House on Harrington Road. This will be a benefit for the newly formed Old Bristol Historical Society.

Featured will be songs and tunes from or about the Pemaquid area gleaned from the duo’s research and personal genealogy.

Many of the Pemaquid colonists were of Scottish or Irish origin who brought their music with them to the new world as heirlooms.

Castlebay members Julia Lane and Fred Gosbee are known for their intelligent arrangements of traditional songs of British Isles, as well as for their original compositions reminiscent of the music of their Celtic ancestors. Blending history, legend and experience into their personable performance style, the two musicians support their expressive vocals with Celtic harp, guitar, fiddle and woodwinds.

Admission: $10, $7 for elders and Historical Society members. For more information, call (207) 677-2848 or e-mail castlebay@castlebay.net.
