LITCHFIELD – Unofficial election results show Lawrence Parlin Jr. has won a seat on the Board of Selectmen.
Parlin beat incumbent Bruce Chesley 239-147 in Tuesday’s municipal election, according to Deputy Town Clerk Trudy Lamoreau. The vote had not been certified.
Chesley, who has served nine years on the board, was seeking his fourth term.
Parlin, retired from the U.S. Navy, is a former parks and recreation director, second vice commander of American Legion Post 181 and a junior warden at Masonic Morning Lodge No. 41.
In a pre-election interview, he said he was interested in being an advocate for senior citizens and young people in the community.
In uncontested races for two seats on the school board, Joan Thomas got 310 votes; Vicki Russell garnered 263.
Also, Monmouth Academy Trustee Rayna Leibowitz, running unopposed, was re-elected with 339 votes.
There were several write-ins for two vacancies on the Budget Committee, but none of those people had yet been approached about accepting the positions, Lamoreau said.
