PARIS – Selectmen on Monday will consider a second liquor license application filed by James McClendon.
McClendon, who once ran McClendon’s nightclub on Route 26, and his manager, Jamie McClendon, have applied to operate a bar with pool tables and lounge in the former Personal Best gym at 22 Market Square owned by Mike Gilbert.
The basement level of the space would also be used as a bar with a function room, according to the application.
Selectmen had already approved another liquor license for a tavern at Market Square.
At their May 24 meeting, they approved a liquor license for the Smilin’ Moose Publyk House and Tavern, which will operate a lounge on the ground floor of the Crossway Building at 10 Market Square.
Selectmen tabled McClendon’s second application at the May meeting because of errors on the application, and because of a pending court appearance by McClendon on a charge of driving after suspension in Northboro, Mass.
Selectman Ray Glover said Thursday the outcome of the court case may affect the selectmen’s decision. The public hearing is at 7 p.m. at Paris Town Hall.
