NORWAY – Norway native Nathan Towne will offer an acoustic performance at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 19, at Fare Share Commons.

Towne has been performing different musical styles for about 15 years.

Chuck Winfield, trumpeter for Blood Sweat and Tears, was his teacher at the University of Maine at Augusta’s Jazz Department.

After returning to Norway in the mid-1980s, Towne formed various acoustic groups and bands, including his current one, The Powah Crew.

He also contributed background vocals and guitars on Bill Shimamura’s CD “The Dreaming Tree” in 1996.

This solo performance will feature Towne’s original tunes as well as classics by musicians such as Robert Johnson, John Prine and the Grateful Dead.

A charter member of the Commons Music Collective, Towne has been active in the Norway music scene for the last few years.

With Shimamura, he’ll perform during the Norway Summer Festival on July 10.

Proceeds from this concert will benefit the Fare Share Co-op. People can call 743-9808 or 388-2669 for more information. The Fare Share Commons, beside Fare Share Market, at 443 Main St., offers an intimate and live performance venue to local artists. If interested, musicians can contact Lisa at 743-9808.

Tickets, which are $10 for adults and $3 for children under 12, are available at the door, which will open at 6:30 p.m.

Seating is limited. Spring water and snacks will be provided.
