AUBURN – The Good Shepherd Food Bank has appointed Charles “Budd” Large of Auburn as its new executive director. He succeeds JoAnn Pike, who died in March.

“I am both proud and humbled and tremendously excited by the opportunity to join the Good Shepherd Food Bank and to be a part of the vital mission of feeding Maine’s hungry,” Large said. “I feel I have found the job I have been preparing for over the past 20 years.”

The food bank is a non-profit organization that directs surplus and reclaimed food to almost 500 agencies of care in Maine. It comprises more than 250 weekly volunteers, truckers, donors, and a small staff.

Large holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a master’s degree in business administration. He has more than 20 years of business experience, in corporate finance with two Fortune 100 companies and in sales and marketing management at several smaller enterprises.

He and his wife of 25 years, Kelly, have four children.
