DOVER-FOXCROFT – The Brochu family of Stratton and Rodney Irish of Freeport have announced the purchase of Pleasant River Lumber from Gerard Crete and Sons of Quebec.

PRL is a spruce and fir sawmill with an annual production of 75 million board feet of lumber. The Brochus are a third-generation logging family in the softwood lumber business. They are operators and partners of Stratton Lumber Co. in Stratton.

The new owners of PRL will be Luke Brochu, Guy Brochu, Jason Brochu, Chris Brochu, Adrien Brochu and Rodney Irish.

The purchasers have no immediate plans to make significant changes in the business. PRL is now the only spruce and fir mill owned 100 percent by Maine residents.
