PLYMOUTH, Mass. – Oxford Hills track athlete Jared Maher turned in a strong performance Saturday, placing fifth in the long and triple jumps at the New England Interscholastic Track Meet.
Maher jumped a personal-best 45-feet, 3-inches in the triple jump to place after being seeded 20th in the event. In the long jump, Maher traveled 20-feet, 9-inches to again claim fifth place. He was seeded 16th.
Maher won this year’s Don Matheson Award as the best field athlete at the KVAC track meet and will attend Division I Sacred Heart next season. He will continue running track and competing in the high, long and triple jumps.
On the girls’ side, junior Lindsay Visbaras of Edward Little jumped 37-feet, 6-inches to take third place in the triple jump.
