FARMINGTON – Farmington Recreation Department has announced its youth programs for the summer.

Programs include:

• Wading Pool Swim Program for ages 3-7. Session 1, June 21 to July 16. Session 2, July 19 to Aug. 13. Hippach Field wading pool, weekdays for four weeks. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Monday, June 14, for Farmington residents and childcare providers only, at the Farmington Community Center. Starting Tuesday, June 15, vacancies will be filled with children from Farmington and from surrounding towns.

• Sumner P. Mills swim program for ages 5 to 18. Session 1, June 21 to July 9; session 2, July 12 to July 30. Monday through Friday mornings at the swimming pool at the UMF Health and Fitness Center. Registration at 9 a.m. June 14 at the Farmington Community Center for Farmington residents and child care providers only; June 15 and 16 all others. Tuition is $25. The towns of Farmington, Industry and New Sharon pay tuition for their residents.

• Hippach Field Playground for ages 7 to 11 from June 21 to Aug. 13. Program is rain or shine from 9 a.m to 4 p.m. weekdays. Children bring a bag lunch and/or snacks. Farmington residents register at 4 p.m June 14 at the Community Center. Daily charge is $6.25; weekly charge $25 for residents; $7.50 daily and $30 weekly for others.

• Jr. Olympic Development Track Team, June 17 to Aug. 14, for ages 6 to 15. Competition is structured by age and sex. Practices are from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays and 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturdays at Mount Blue High School. Track meets are Thursday afternoons. There is a meet fee of $1 per athlete. Parents of team members are expected to help transport the team to and from the meets. Registration is 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, at the Farmington Community Center. Registration is $20 for Farmington residents and $25 for nonresidents.

• Youth Self Defense for ages 7 to 11, June 24 to July 29. Classes are 9 to 10 a.m. Thursdays for six weeks at the Community Center. Registration must take place before the first class. Cost is $24 for Farmington residents and $30 for all others.

• Mountain Biking Challenges for ages 10 to 16. Beginners from June 14-18 and advanced from June 21 to 25. Participants need only provide their own mountain bike, helmet and water bottle.
