SKOWHEGAN – Guy F. (Shorty) Dyke, 66, of North Anson died June 12, at the Redington-Fairview General Hospital.

He was born May 7, 1938, in Wilton the son of Guy E. and Stella C. (Davenport) Dyke. He was educated in the schools of Farmington. He married Regina (Ginger) Taylor on June 17, 1961.

He was self-employed and worked in the woods for almost 30 years in the surrounding areas. He then worked 12 years for T.R. Dillon Logging Co. in Madison retiring in March, 2003. He was a member of the Maine Draft Horse and Ox Association and a member of the Association of New England Ox Teamsters, Inc.

His life was traveling around to different fairs showing steers for the last two years in Maine, but was better known for his horse pulling in the New England states and in Canada. He won many trophies and ribbons at these events. He was also known for giving wagon rides with his horses, Vic and Buddy.

He is survived by his wife, Regina of North Anson; a son, Timothy Dyke and wife Jodi; two grandchildren, Randelle and Dustin of Skowhegan; four brothers and two sisters; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
