WOOLWICH – The Woolwich-based international studies organization, GlobalQuest, after seven semesters of immersion programs in Thailand, is on the brink of expanding its model within Thailand and to other countries.

Part of the growth is evident in the addition of two board members Marsha S. Greenberg and John B. Cole.

Born in Salem, Mass., in 1948, Cole studied at Roxbury Latin School before earning a bachelor of arts degree from Bowdoin College in 1970. Four years later, he received a law degree from Syracuse University and was admitted to the bar in Maine and Massachusetts.

Subsequently, he served as assistant district attorney (1974-1975) and deputy district attorney (1975-1976) in Maine. He is director, vice president and secretary at the private law practice of Skelton, Taintor and Abbott, PA, in Auburn, where he has been employed since 1976. He has been involved with civil litigation, employment law, Workers Compensation law and higher education law.

Cole is a member of the Maine Trial Lawyers Association, the Maine Bar Association and the National Association of College and University Attorneys. He is married to Christine Robert Cole; they have three sons.

With more than 25 years of experience in consulting, training and facilitation, Greenberg has managed her own consulting practice, serving clients that range from small nonprofit organizations to large high-tech manufacturers. Prior to that, she was corporate diversity and worldwide education manager for Digital Equipment Corp.

In addition, she founded and managed Women’s Educational and Resource Enterprises in Boston. Greenberg’s consulting has landed her jobs with business leaders in a vast array of cultures, including Singapore, Ireland, Hong Kong, Puerto Rico, Canada and Taiwan.

She serves on the faculty of Antioch New England Graduate School of Organization and Management. Both she and her husband, Steve Schuit, have been supporters of GlobalQuest since their son, Jacob, returned from the fall 2003 semester.

Founded in 1999, GlobalQuest offers 12-week semester programs in Thailand for high school seniors and students taking time between high school and college. Full credit is available upon successful completion of four courses and an individual inquiry project.

There are still a few spots left for the fall of 2004 and spring of 2005. Interested juniors and seniors should visit the Web at www.gquest.org or contact Tim Ellis for application information at [email protected] or 443-5451.
