• June 13, 9:49 a.m. – A Rumford Hospital employee called reporting that a young man had just arrived seeking treatment for injuries suffered in a motorcycle crash on Ellis River Road.

Sgt. George Cayer responded and learned Peter J. Cunningham III, 20, of Rumford, said his bike hit sand and “kicked out,” dumping him between 9:30 and 9:45 a.m.

Through Cayer’s investigation and a reconstruction by State Trooper Kyle Tilsley, it was learned that speed and wheel standing were factors. Cunningham was summoned on a charge of driving to endanger. He is to be arraigned on Aug. 3 in Rumford District Court.

• June 12, 6:02 p.m. – A Rumford Hospital employee reported that someone had stolen her purse from her vehicle between 4 and 6 p.m. The purse was later found over an embankment. A package of cigarettes was the only thing missing.

Arrests

• Erik Bernard, 18, of Rumford, on charges of refusing to sign a summons for illegal possession of liquor by a minor, and disorderly conduct, on June 13. He was released on $300 unsecured bail.
