PORTLAND – Lawrence J. “Chick” Chicoine Sr., 70, a longtime resident of Oak Street, Livermore Falls, passed away Monday, June 14, at Maine Medical Center after a courageous battle with heart disease.

He was born in Livermore on Dec. 22, 1933, one of 15 children of Donat and Josephine McGuire Chicoine and attended the schools of Livermore Falls.

On Sept. 27, 1952, he married Rita Pare of Livermore Falls at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. He worked for International Paper Co. in Jay at the Otis and Androscoggin Mills, retiring in 1993 after 32 years of service.

“Chick” was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. He was a member of the IP Quarter Century Club, an honorary member of the Livermore Falls Fire Department and head of the Tri-Mill Chapter for 15 years. He was a 4th Degree member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Council 320 of Jay and a member of the Hillside Sports Club in Jay. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren’s sports events and family gatherings.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years of Livermore Falls; two daughters and their husbands, Donna and Chris Dumais Sr. of Livermore, Diane and Forrest Flagg of Fayette; a son and his wife, Lawrence Jr., and Nancy Chicoine of Livermore; eight grandchildren, Chris Dumais Jr. and his wife Leslie, Heather Dumais, Chad Dumais and his wife Kate, James and Keith Flagg, Brad, Erica and Ross Chicoine; a great-granddaughter, Jessica Dumais; three brothers, Norman Chicoine and his wife Gloria of Livermore, Arnold Chicoine of Waterville and Ovilla Chicoine of Jay; four sisters, Dorothy Perry of Jay, Patricia Libby and her husband Lloyd of North Turner, Gloria Dunham of Dixfield and Lois Walton and her husband Robert of North Turner; sister-in-law, Shirley Chicoine of Rhode Island; a brother-in-law, Winston Coombs of Livermore; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by sisters, Betty Chicoine, Madeline Coombs and twin sisters, Arlene and Madelyn; three brothers, Walter, Paul “Tiny” and Manny Chicoine.
