FARMINGTON – Franklin County commissioners approved the request of Assistant Jail Administrator Carl Stinchfield to hire a full-time temporary corrections officer Tuesday.
The jail has two temporary vacancies, one due to medical leave. The other vacancy will occur during the two weeks that Officer Douglas Blauvelt is attending criminal justice academy.
The jail will hire a full-time temporary officer to fill these gaps on a 30-day basis, most likely from a pool of part-time employees.
Stinchfield also announced that Corrections Supervisor Irene Greenwood will be retiring in September. Commissioners agreed that a hiring process to replace her should begin soon.
Commissioner Gary McGrane reported that he visited several road construction sites recently. The Beech Hill bridge project is “well under way,” he said and East Madrid Road should be completed by the end of the week.
Additionally, residents of Lowell Road in New Vineyard have come to an agreement about upgrading it, and construction is due to begin this week. Representatives for the Lowell Road group are expected to report on progress at the July 6 meeting.
