For the second time in about nine months, there has been a profound decision made in the town office without any discussion at selectmen’s meetings.

It has been put into the Town Warrant (for June 23) to start paying the Planning Board members. I don’t mind that, but the planning board wasn’t even asked or given a chance to voice their opinion. There is no article in the warrant asking people to vote on it. The money for this expenditure is hidden in the administration account.

If we are going to start this little bureaucracy (they will then be employees of the town, and next could come liability, health insurance, retirement, etc.), then we as taxpayers have the right to vote for these people. After all, don’t forget, it is our money.

Also if Buckfield is going back to a town clerk, then we should have the right to vote for that person too.

Beverly Bennett, Buckfield
