I am writing to make a commentary of my own on the debacle of a graduation that Edward Little put on last week.

I found the subject matter inappropriate, repulsive and very tasteless.

Graduation days are meant to be a positive and memorable ending to the high school experience.

I’ve spoken with many people who attended EL’s graduation, and the general consensus is that it was uncalled for. Also, people are questioning, “Where were the class advisers during the preparation for this graduation?”

Take note, I have also heard that several people came from a long distance to attend this graduation and that had they known what type of ceremony (and I use that lightly), they wouldn’t have gone to the expense of being there.

I was again privileged to attend Oak Hill High School’s graduation, and it was a night to remember, for the students and their loved ones as well.

Edward Little’s salutatorian expressed his experience as “one big bowel movement.” That was gross and totally uncalled for.

Oak Hill’s valedictorian spoke of past and wonderful experiences, and he encouraged his classmates to take what they have learned, apply it to life and go forward and face challenges as they come.

All in all, the big-city school could take some lessons in etiquette from the often overlooked small school.

Great job, Oak Hill!
