LEWISTON – John J. Blad, 82, a resident of Bushey Circle died Sunday, June 20, at D’Youville Pavilion following a long illness.

He was born in Franklin, N.H. on Feb. 24, 1922, the son of Felix and Mary (Silva) Blad and was educated in the schools of New Hampshire and Lewiston. He served his country during WWII as a Corporal in the U.S. Army in the Asiatic Pacific theater of operations.

He married the former Anita Thibault Dec. 14, 1946, in Lewiston. She died Dec. 13, 1995. He was employed in the textile industry for many years as a weaver, first for Continental Mill in Lewiston, then for Pepperell Blanket Co. of Biddeford and later for Edwards Mill in Augusta before retiring in 1984. He was proud of his home and enjoyed the interests of home repair and doing yard work.

Survivors include daughter, Mrs. Richard (Patricia) Roux of Estero, Fla. and grandson Peter Roux and wife, Ann of Memphis, Tenn.

He was predeceased by a sister, Mrs. Stella Wood and brother, Joseph Blad.
