LIVERMORE FALLS – Business people joined with town officials Monday afternoon to review the planning report from Pierce Atwood Consulting and Richardson Associates on how to revitalize the downtown.

The group decided that one of the first steps in the process should be to devise a logo.

Selectman Ken Jacques said he will see if young people in the Summer Recreation Program would like to help out with the logo, but any interested citizen may submit a design. Phil Poirier, a volunteer, will assist is compiling ideas.

Town Manager Alan Gove emphasized that the revitalization is not a town-run program, but a public-private project. Gove said he will talk with Superintendent Terry Despres about how to incorporate a community group in the project.

Another step in the plan is to look at local buildings to determine their size and condition, how much space is available in them.

Tom Roy spoke briefly on his plans for the former Falls Lounge property on Depot Street and took suggestions on how the property should look.

Roy said he hopes people will realize that, by helping out, they are helping themselves. “Once you start to see progress, people get excited,” he said.

Progress reports will be given at the next meeting, set for 5:30 p.m. July 6 at the Town Office.
