NORWAY – Democrat Roy Gedat has announced his candidacy for the District 95 state representative’s seat, which covers Norway, West Paris, Waterford and Greenwood.
The Norway resident and former executive director of the Norway-based Child Health Center for the past 18 years said he is ready to work hard and to bring new energy to Augusta. He is challenging incumbent state Rep. Sawin Millett, R-Waterford.
Gedat is active in the Norway Budget Committee, Maine Safe Kids and Norway’s Downtown Revitalization Board of Directors.
Gedat’s special concerns include improved living-wage job opportunities, financially responsible government, affordable and accessible health care, and child and youth development.
“Our communities and families are too often struggling with no or low-paying jobs, unreasonable taxes and health care costs that have spiraled out of control,” he said. “Working families know what spiraling gas prices and big tax increases mean. The people of the Oxford Hills deserve better than partisan finger-pointing.”
Gedat believes his 30-year career in human services has provided him with the experience and knowledge to find creative and timely solutions to problems.
“Our state government must innovate and change with the times,” he said. “I know how to cut spending, balance a budget, and expand services to families and children.
“I’m asking the voters to give me the opportunity to turn my experience loose in Augusta,” Gedat said. “I pledge to work hard, be a good listener, and fight for all citizens young and seasoned, while offering an independent voice for change.”
