BALTIMORE – Alex Rodriguez passed Joe DiMaggio on the career home run list, connecting twice and driving in five runs Tuesday night in the New York Yankees’ 10-4 victory over the Baltimore Orioles.
Mike Mussina (8-4) overcame a rocky start to win his seventh straight decision. In his first game since leaving a June 11 outing with a groin injury, he lasted just five innings.
Rodriguez had his 35th multihomer game. He hit a three-run shot off Matt Riley in the first inning and a two-run drive against Rodrigo Lopez in the seventh to help the Yankees improve to 7-0 against Baltimore this season.
A-Rod’s first home run was his 362nd, moving him past DiMaggio into 60th place on the career list. Rodriguez has 18 homers this season, including four in his last seven games.
Derek Jeter also homered for the Yankees, who received 13 walks.
Miguel Tejada hit a three-run shot for the last-place Orioles, who have lost eight of nine and 22 of 30.
Playing their first season under manager Lee Mazzilli, a former coach with the Yankees, the Orioles have been outscored by New York 70-35.
Devil Rays 5, Blue Jays 1
TORONTO – The Tampa Bay Devil Rays extended their franchise-record winning streak to 12 games Tuesday night, beating the Toronto Blue Jays 5-1 behind homers from Julio Lugo and Carl Crawford.
Devil Rays starter Chad Gaudin was lifted after walking four in the first inning, but four relievers went the rest of the way for a three-hitter.
The Devil Rays (33-34) started the season 3-19, but they’re a major league-best 23-6 in their last 29 games. Tampa Bay has the longest winning streak in the majors since Arizona won 12 straight June 18-30 last season.
Gaudin got just two outs – the Devil Rays turned a double play in the first. Travis Harper (2-0) got Chris Woodward to fly out to end the threat.
Marlins 4, Braves 3
MIAMI – Pinch-hitter Lenny Harris walked and scored on a wild pitch in the seventh inning Tuesday night, giving the Florida Marlins a 4-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves that stopped a three-game losing streak.
Florida had just two hits and trailed 3-0 after five innings, but Miguel Cabrera got the rally started with an RBI double in the sixth, and the World Series champions went on to beat the Braves for just the second time in seven games this season.
Atlanta has lost five of six and nine of 13.
Jeff Conine and Alex Gonzalez opened the seventh with consecutive singles off Jaret Wright and advanced on a wild pitch.
Expos 5, Phillies 2
MONTREAL – Livan Hernandez doubled twice and got his first win in five weeks, leading the Montreal Expos to a 5-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday night.
Brad Wilkerson, who fell a triple short of his second cycle in two seasons, and Brian Schneider each had three hits for Montreal, which won its third in a row following a seven-game losing streak.
Hernandez (4-7), who hadn’t won since May 16, doubled in the third and added an RBI double in the sixth to drive in the Expos’ fifth run.
He allowed four hits and two runs in seven innings to win for the first time in seven starts, ending his five-game losing streak.
Mets 7, Reds 4
NEW YORK – Mike Piazza hit a go-ahead home run in the fifth inning and the New York Mets won their season-high fifth straight, 7-4 over the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night.
In his first game since hitting his 500th homer, Ken Griffey Jr. went 1-for-5 with a single. He was mostly cheered by the Shea Stadium crowd of 19,301, who showed up possibly hoping to see home run No. 501.
But it was the Mets who had the big hits, including Cliff Floyd’s solo homer, in winning for the seventh time in eight games to move above .500 at 35-34.

Rangers 10, Mariners 2
ARLINGTON, Texas – Ryan Drese pitched eight solid innings and Rod Barajas homered in his third straight game to help the Texas Rangers beat Seattle 10-2 Tuesday night.
Drese (4-4) allowed four hits while matching his longest outing in 51 career starts. He struck out three and walked two.
David Dellucci snapped a 1-for-35 slump with two hits, including an RBI double that started the scoring in the Rangers’ six-run sixth.
Royals 8, Tigers 1
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Carlos Beltran hit a two-run homer in the first inning and Mike Sweeney added a three-run homer, helping the Kansas City Royals beat the Detroit Tigers 8-1 Tuesday night.
Beltran hit his 14th homer of the season following Tony Graffanino’s single off Mike Maroth (5-5). Kansas City has said it might trade the center fielder because he is eligible for free agency after the season.
Sweeney added his 150th career homer in the eighth against Ugeuth Urbina.
Brewers 6, Rockies 2
MILWAUKEE – Javier Lopez broke a seventh-inning tie when he hit consecutive batters with the bases loaded, helping the Milwaukee Brewers beat Colorado 6-2 Tuesday night in Larry Walker’s return to the Rockies.
Walker doubled in his season debut after missing the Rockies’ first 68 games with a strained left groin.
Brady Clark added a two-run double in the five-run seventh, giving Doug Davis (7-5) his third straight victory. Davis last won three in a row late in the 2001 season with the Texas Rangers.
Astros 5, Pirates 4
HOUSTON – Roy Oswalt pitched eight solid innings, Morgan Ensberg hit a tiebreaking triple in the seventh and the Houston Astros came from behind for the second consecutive night to defeat the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-4 Tuesday.
Oswalt (5-6) allowed three runs, nine hits and did not walk a batter, sending Pittsburgh to its 10th straight road loss and fifth in a row overall. The right-hander, who lost three of his previous four starts and five of seven, struck out five.
The Pirates dropped to 1-15 in their last 16 games in Houston.
Cubs 5, Cardinals 4
ST. LOUIS – Aramis Ramirez hit a two-out, two-run double off closer Jason Isringhausen in the eighth inning to give the Chicago Cubs a 5-4 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday night.
The Cubs have won nine of 10 to cut the Cardinals’ NL Central lead to one game. The Cardinals have won 15 of 21 but lost their last two. They face the Cubs twice more in this series.
Jim Edmonds flew out to left for the final out of the game in his first pinch-hitting appearance of the season. He was scratched due to a groin injury.
