FARMINGTON – The three-piece band Native Oak from the Farmington area will perform at the next GI coffeehouse from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, June 25, at Old South Congregational Church on Main Street.

The coffeehouse is a welcoming location for GIs, their friends and family, and anyone else who enjoys music in a friendly setting. There is no charge to attend.

Native Oak specializes in songs of great harmony – rock, jazz, bluegrass, country, folk, a cappella and instrumental songs of the 50s to the 80s – as well as some original works. The group’s members have played together since 1995, mostly doing benefits and private functions, playing mainly for the enjoyment of making music.

Items are being collected that soldiers in Iraq particularly need, such as socks, underwear, sunscreen, Chap Stick, artificial tears, books, and candy that will not melt. Donated items may be brought to the coffeehouse. Organizers hope to send some donated items to soldiers who otherwise would not receive gifts or packages.
