RUMFORD – The Western Maine Healthy Beginnings Program recently received a $500 mini-grant from the River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition to procure educational baby cups and brochures that convey the consequences of second hand cigarette smoke in a non-threatening and helpful way.
Western Maine Healthy Beginnings founded in 1995, is a program of Community Concepts Inc. It is grant funded annually by the Office of Substance Abuse/Maine Department of Human Services.
Healthy Beginnings distributes canvas totes filled with baby kits and information for referrals or available community resources to the birthplaces at both the Rumford Community Hospital and to Stephens Memorial Hospital.
